Authors Guide

ABOUT THE JOURNAL

The International Journal of Research in Teacher Education (IJRTE) is a fully refereed electronic journal published by Educational Research Association, Turkiye. IJRTE has been launched as an online journal rather than a paper-based journal in order to reach as many readers as possible in the most convenient manner. IJRTE is interested in research into all aspects of education. The aim of the journal is to assist in the improvement of teaching-learning in fields related to the process of teaching-learning, and to make a contribution to knowledge in this field by serving as an outlet for the results of theoretical and practical research by specialists and instructors to be disseminated to interested audience. IJRTE is publishing quarterly in MarchJuneSeptember, and December.

MANUSCRIPT WRITING RULES

First and foremost, the authors need to ensure that they abide by the Ethical Principles of IJRTE for publication.

All manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the form and style as outlined in the American Psychological Association Publication Manual (7th ed.).

Your manuscript will consist of the items below in order:

  • Cover page file*
  • Full text file*
  • Cover letter (submit as an Additional File for Editor)*
  • Any other attachment files (optional)

* These documents are a must and all three of them have to be uploaded.

I. Cover Page File

This file must include the study's title, author information, abstract, and any other additional information needed. The cover page should be uploaded in the system as a seperate file type: "Cover page file".

Author Information: Full names and affiliation of all authors of a manuscript should be included on the cover page file. This document should also include manuscript title and for each author, name, department, institutional affiliation. In addition, for each author, the following details should be provided: name, department, institutional affiliation, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, ORDIC number and a brief biographical statement. One author should be identified as the corresponding author.

Do not forget to include your ORCiD in the authors information. Click here for information about ORCiD or to create yourself a new ORCiD. It is mandatory to have ORCiD.

II. Full Text File

Manuscripts should be written clearly in double-spaced, including references, notes, abstracts, quotations, and tables. The title page should be followed by an abstract of 150 to 300 words. Tables and references should follow APA style and be double-spaced.Manuscript must be typed in Times New Roman font size 12-point, with 1" margins all round.Normally, manuscripts should not exceed 30 pages (double-spaced), including tables, figures, and references. Manuscripts should not be simultaneously submitted to another journal, nor should they have been published elsewhere in considerably similar form or with considerably similar content. The full text file must not contain author information.

All submissions will be reviewed initially by the editors for appropriateness to IJRTE. If the editor considers the manuscript to be appropriate, it will then be sent for anonymous review. Final decision will be made by the editors based on the reviewers’ recommendations. All process -submission, review, and revision- is carried out by e-Journal Management System. The submissions should be written using MS-WORD or compatible word processors. IJRTE has a policy of screening for plagiarism. IJRTE expects review processing duration as approximately 3-6 months. However, please note that the review process can take more time depending on the number of rounds the reviews need to take place.

What Your Full Text Should Also Include

In writing your draft manuscript, you are free to shape your paper however you like provided that you follow the APA Style: 7th Edition and the guidelines mentioned above. On the other hand, there are also points you must provide detailed information about, which are as follows. For detailed information, visit the Ethical Principles page.

Ethical Statement

Provide how you addressed ethical issues. E.g., consent forms were distributed, ethical board approval was granted (No: 12/34, Institution), etc.

Funding Details

Present funding information and grant number if your study was funded by an institution. If you were not funded, simply state: “No funding was received for the study.”

Conflict of Interests

Financial ties, rivalry in personal or professional relationships, rivalry in the classroom, and ideological or religious differences can all create a possible conflict of interest. They may be fiscal, political, scholarly, commercial, or personal. As an author, you will have to submit a statement ensuring that:

1. Any financial support you receive (fund, donation, sponsorship) is approved.

2. A commercial or financial relationship with potential for a conflict of interest is described in the cover letter.

3. You have not signed an agreement with your sponsor that will make the results of your research biased in any way.

4. There is no conflict of interest between the authors of the article.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledgements should include contributions from anyone who does not meet the criteria for authorship (for example, to recognize contributions from people who provided technical help, collation of data, writing assistance, acquisition of funding, or a department chairperson who provided general support), as well as any funding or other support information.

III. Cover Letter

In order for the review process to be conducted quicker, IJRTE mandates the uploading of a cover letter from the corresponding author. A sample cover letter can be found below.

SUBMISSION

AFTER ACCEPTANCE

FIRST STEP: FINALISING MANUSCRIPT

All authors have to revise their accepted manuscripts and fit them into the following sample manuscript format. This happens only after the acception. Do not format your papers in the following format while submitting them the first time.

SECOND STEP: ENSURING ORIGINALITY

In addition, the corresponding author has to submit a similarity report, provided by Ithenticate or Turnitin. The similarity of the work should not exceed the rate of 15%. Any manuscripts with a similarity rate of more than 15% will be declined for publication.

THIRD STEP: TRANSFERRING COPYRIGHT

Copyright allows you to protect your original material, and stop others from using your work without your permission.

IJRTE is an open access journal and adapts "Creative commons Attribution 4.0 International BY”. All accepted manuscripts authors should sign "Copyright Transfer Agreement". All rights of the published manuscripts belong to the related journal and cannot be used without permission. The authors agree to disseminate and use their manuscripts through the journal's website.
